My sadly lost sister-in-law Ann Dalton made green smoothies for us in Canberra in 2010.
Her sister Jane is THE guru (her website info below). I immediately became a green smoothie evangelist
and introduced them to my US friends (Jane).

Green Smoothies
IngredientsGreen leaves - we like to use our own. Or buy: spinach, kale, fresh or packaged - as long as it is fresh. Combine different types - even parsley
1 - 2 bananas Other fruit in season - you can leave the skin on - just take the seeds: suggestions: apples, pears, pineapple, oranges, lemon, mangoes, peaches (remove skin) and nectarines , nectarines, medjool dates Frozen fruit if you have it - especially good for fruits out of season 1 cup of water Ice if you like your smoothie cold |
Method1. You need a really good blender to make smooth green smoothies. I invested in a Vitamix - well worth every penny.
2. Prepare your fruit and add some to the blender. 3. Add 2 - 3 cups of green leaves. 4. Add 1 cup of water or more depending on how think you like your smoothie. 4. Start your blender and blend until smooth. Add some more fruit and more green leaves. 5. Experiment with combing different type of leaves and fruit. You will work out a balance that you and your family likes the best! 6. If you make too much - store in the refrigerator for tomorrow! Just make sure you cover it as it will oxidize and go off-color. |
